Connections Permanent Care Program facilitates stable, secure and caring family environments for children who cannot live with their own families due to risk or experience of abuse or neglect.
For further enquiries contact Permanent Care & Adoption Programs on: foreverfamily@connections.org.au
The Permanent Care Program caters for children aged up to 12 years old who cannot live with their family of origin, usually because of the risk or experience of physical, sexual, emotional abuse and/or neglect and who need the care of another permanent family.
Some children also have developmental delays or disabilities.
People interested in becoming permanent carers come from a variety of backgrounds and cultures and can also be couples, single or a family.
There are many children awaiting permanent care families. With your help, Connections hopes to find these children a home.
The Department of Human Service's Child Protection Service refers children that they have assessed as experiencing or at risk of experiencing abuse or neglect to the Permanent Care Program.
The Permanent Care Program recruits, trains and assesses potential permanent carers for these children.
Children who are victims or likely to become victims of physical, sexual or emotional abuse and neglect are protected from their harmful environments and provided with safety, stability and a caring family life.
Couples, single people and families who, for a variety of reasons, wish to permanently care for a child may be provided with the opportunity following an assessment and appropriate support to successfully care for a child
The prevention of child abuse and neglect is of primary importance to our community. By facilitating appropriate permanent care placements for children at risk of abuse and neglect, the community also provides them with safe and stable family environments, which assists in their appropriate childhood development and may favourably impact on their development as young people and adults.
