The core objective of CCATTS is to promote and facilitate safe, stable and nurturing environments for children, families, parents or carers.
There is unequivocal evidence that a cohesive and functioning family is the optimum environment for a child's healthy development: physically, intellectually, emotionally, socially and spiritually. CCATTS is committed to ensuring that all children and their families can access quality psychological services.
Consultation to foster, kith/kin and residential carers, schools and other professionals involved with children who live in out-of-home care and where the child is exhibiting challenging behaviours. Some children have been deeply wounded by their past experiences; leaving them troubled and confused. In turn their behaviours trouble and confuse those who care for them.
This consultancy aims to maintain, support and enhance their current placement by exploring the underlying causes of the child’s behaviour and providing tailored intervention and behavioural management strategies.
Eligibility: This is available for children who live in out-of-home care in the Southern Metropolitan Region and where there is current Child Protection involvement. Only Child Protection staff are able to refer to this service.
Fees: The service is free for children where Child Protection is involved, otherwise this service is provided on a fee-for-service basis.
Assessment of children is tailored to the child’s circumstances and may include direct observations, consultation with professionals, interviews with people significant in to and for the child and/or cognitive testing. Assessments take account of the child within the context of their family relationships, their care histories and their educational capacities.
Eligibility: Any child or family living in the Southern Metropolitan Region are eligible.
Low Cost Therapy for adults (who have a child in their care on a part or full time basis) and/or children. Each intervention is designed by a psychologist to address the specific needs and may involve a combination of individual, couple or family therapies.
Eligibility: This is available to families who live in the City of Casey, City of Greater Dandenong or Shire of Cardinia.
Fees: This is provided on a fee for-service-basis, with a sliding scale depending upon income and in some circumstances may be bulk billed.
Training and case consultation to agencies, government departments, education staff and carer groups. These opportunities facilitate understanding about what a child’s behaviours communicate and how professionals can work with these behaviours.
Fees: There is fee-for-service based on each specific request.
