Anti-Poverty Awards - Recognising Young Australians Working to Reduce Poverty
Applications are now open for the Connections UnitingCare Anti-Poverty Awards. The Awards recognise young Australians between the ages of 16 and 30 who are making a contribution to the eradication of poverty, locally, nationally or internationally.
Bilingual Workshop Builds Parenting Skills
The Connections UnitingCare ‘Positive Parenting Program’ (Triple P) has been delivered to Monash parents in both Chinese and English for the first time.
The Monash Chinese Family Services Project (MCFSP), a joint initiative of Connections and the Monash City Council, delivered the proactive ‘Positive Parenting Program’ to 16 parents over four weeks and provided them with effective strategies and practical tools to manage the behaviour of their children.

Supporting Young Mums Starting Out - 3 March 2010
An innovative and unique program run by Connections UnitingCare is offering young mothers the opportunity to gain more knowledge and further their skills by becoming a Peer Support Worker with its Starting Out program.
Starting Out, a community-based support program for young, pregnant and parenting women up to the age of 25 years is hosting an information session for potential Peer Support Workers at Connections' Croydon office at 185 Mt Dandenong Road on Friday 19 March.
Family Violence Art Exhibition - 3 March 2010
A selection of mosaic art created by women who have experienced family violence will be on display at St Kilda Library from Tuesday 23 March 2010 for a week.
Stemming from an overwhelming response of clients who expressed their need for ongoing contact with other women who have also experienced family violence, Connections UnitingCare Mosaic Art Group ran for 10 weeks in late 2009 from Connections' Windsor office.

New Ideas on Children's Rights and Work to Reduce Poverty Recognised - 23 October 2009
In a ceremony held in Anti-Poverty Week, Connections UnitingCare hosted The Annual WJ Craig Lecture and Presentation of Connections UnitingCare Anti-Poverty Awards.
Delivering the 23rd Annual WJ Craig Lecture was Moira Rayner, a senior and experienced lawyer and children’s rights advocate. In her speech entitled ‘Protecting Children’s Rights’, Ms Rayner stated that ‘our progress in protecting the fundamental rights of all children is disgracefully slow. Children are the most talked about, but silent and powerless, members of society.’

Connections UnitingCare has today expressed sadness about the tragic failures of a system that sees a young child assaulted and fighting for her life in hospital and her father, due to appear in court over the assault, found dead near his home.
The Premier John Brumby has admitted the state's child protection system failed the toddler, saying earlier today to the media that 'Clearly the system has failed.'
Giving Young People A Chance – 8 July 2009
Connections UnitingCare is encouraging young people across Melbourne’s south-eastern suburbs to apply for scholarships in the newly launched South Eastern Chances program. South Eastern Chances provides support for children and young people to obtain educational, cultural and social opportunities that would otherwise be unavailable to them due to a lack of financial and/or broader supports.

Connections UnitingCare, one of Victoria’s largest welfare agencies and the largest UnitingCare agency in Victoria has moved to a new office in Mount Waverley. The Uniting Church Moderator for Synod of Victoria and Tasmania, Rev. Jason Kioa will offer a blessing for the new establishment.
