Parenting Assessment & Skills Development Service (PASDS)


The Parenting Assessment and Skills Development Service is a program funded by the Victorian Government's Department of Human Services (DHS) that strengthens child protection services for children two years of age and under.

People who can access the service

People can be only be referred to the Connections PASDS by the DHS Eastern Metropolitan Region High Risk Infant (HRI) Team.

How PASDS works

PASDS aims to undertake an assessment of parenting competency which includes the full range of factors that may compromise the safety of an infant including; the impact of substance misuse, family violence, psychiatric or intellectual disability as well as parenting skills relating to the healthy development of the infant.

How clients can benefit from this service

PASDS can enhance attachment between the parent and their infant, improve the parents knowledge of child development and parenting skills.

How this service benefits the community

PASDS can improve the safety of an infant through an enhanced relationship between mother and child. This can ensure that the infant develops appropriately.
